Kitale municipal board members led by Vice Chair Alice Waruguru and Daniel Kaburu praised the project after inspection, saying it is part of the bigger plan to transform Kitale into a business hub.
“This is the bigger picture of changing Kitale into a modern business centre,” said Ms Waruguru.
Mr Kaburu applauded the County Government under Governor George Natembeya for allocating funds and enabling the municipal board to carry out its mandate independently.
The board members said Kitale Municipality has earmarked several activities including the beautification programme and rehabilitation of BP road to facelift the town.
Municipal Manager Irine Nang’ole hailed the project as a major boost to accessibility and service delivery.
“The completion of this road will ease transport, reduce congestion and contribute to the modernization of Kitale Municipality,” she said.
Ms Nang’ole expressed gratitude to the County Government for continued support in implementing projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.
She assured small traders operating along the Alakara–Vision Gate road reserve that they will be relocated to the modern Kitale bus park terminus market once completed, which will host over 3,000 business spaces.
The manager added that Kitale Municipality has commenced installation of street lights from the Museums to Vision Gate.
“This will improve security and allow traders to run their businesses until late in the night. It is going to boost the economy of Kitale Municipality and the County at large,” Ms Nang’ole said.
